With an approximate length and width of 3.5m, this outdoor canopy provides plenty of dry space to your chosen area. Once inside you will not have to crouch and will be able to stand upright.
The head height is just over 2 metres which are ample for the majority of people, although the sides are a little lower so you may need to duck your head on entering.
Decent in Bad Weather
Whilst using shelters in really bad weather isn’t advised because that’s not what they’re made for, this Garden Gear shelter is surprisingly very robust in such weather conditions.
The canopy fabric is 190T and this kind of material is often used for workwear due to its strength.
As this fabric is used for canopies it has to have a PU coating applied which provides waterproof protection between you and the wet weather (2000mm hydrostatic head).
PU (Polyurethane) is widely used in waterproofing gazebos, shelters, tents and other outdoor materials that require to be waterproofed.
This fabric also offers protection against UV rays. These are the harmful rays submitted by the sun and what causes skin damage, suntans and sunburns. Longterm exposure to UV can cause tissue damage.
The protection of this shelter is SPF 30 which means that with sunscreen on it will take 300 seconds to burn and without suncream, it takes 10 seconds to burn.
Therefore, you divide 300 by 10 and you get the sun protection factor of 30.
Mesh Nets to Stop Flies and Wasps
The mesh nets are ideal in the summer months. We all know, once you start having food and drink outdoors then the flies, wasps and even mosquitos start to invade your space.
The mesh walls can be removed if necessary and you also receive 2 full shade sides just to provide more shade and privacy too.
If required, you can remove all sides and mesh nets should you want to.
The approximate weight of the product is around 7.5kg and this makes it a very lightweight shelter which makes it much easier to transport to your event or location.
Being lightweight, don’t think that the strength of this product is compromised because of this.

A rare luxury in the event shelter world, Coleman patented hinged doors.
It’s something you take for granted but having a hinge is a huge convenience and saves the hassle of having to zip open/close every time you need to enter or leave your shelter.
Velcro is what holds it closed but don’t worry, there’s also a zip so you can secure it properly during the night or when you need to secure your valuables.
Speaking of securing valuables, this brings us on to our next feature – keep reading to find out what it is.
All outer fabrics are 100% waterproof to protect everything that’s under the shelter. This makes it ideal for a variety of situations.
If you use the shelter as an office then your electronics will be protected if there’s a sudden downpour, or perhaps you want to take an iPad to keep the kids quiet for an afternoon.
The waterproofing, thanks to Coleman’s unique Weather Tec system provides a hydrostatic head of 2000mm.
To put that in perspective, 1500mm is the minimum to be classed as waterproof so you’re getting much more than necessary for that extra peace of mind.
Hydrostatic Head is the measurement used to determine how water resistant a material is, it represents the amount of water your shelters fabric can hold before water seeps through.
So for a 2000mm material, it means that the fabric will be able to hold a column filled with 2L of water before any starts to come through the weave.
360 Panoramic View
With the 360 views, you’re probably wondering what will happen to your valuables when you’re not around or what if you want more privacy?
Well, there are curtains on each panel of the shelter so you can have full privacy, giving you the ability to hide your valuables from plain sight when you’re not around.
Another bonus to the curtains is that you can turn as many panels as you want into windows.
Large Open Area
This shelter offers a single 15.7m² room, giving you the maximum amount of space and ensuring there’s plenty of room for activities.
Provided with this product is a divider that cuts the octagon straight down the middle, providing 2 spacious areas.
Costway Pavilion Canopy 4×4
This Costway fabric pavilion is very similar to what those who live in the United States refer to as a soft-top canopy.
As you can see in the image, the roof overhangs the frame legs by quite a bit and this ensures that the rainwater run-off falls well away from your dry area.
The 2 tier roof section helps to provide added ventilation in hot and humid weather conditions.
It adds to the stability and sturdiness of the structure in windy weather by providing an exit route for strong winds, which is ideal when pitched in open areas such as parkland.
Don’t underestimate just how much dry area this shelter provides, measuring 4 metres by 4 metres it can, therefore provide 16m² of protection from rain and harmful UV rays.

Protects against UV rays
The canopy will provide protection against UV rays which is ideal for use in hot sunny conditions.
The silver lining underneath the canopy fabric protects you from UV by reflecting the harmful rays whilst also providing a cooler temperature underneath.
The polyester outer fabric does a great job of blocking out the harmful rays from the sun. You should still use sun cream whilst outdoors, this canopy just aids your overall protection.
2 Tier canopy section
The 2 tier section at the top of the roof section is extremely important and it’s not until you’ve had a canopy with and one without that you really understand the true benefits.
Upon first look, your first question is does the 2 tier section let water in? and the quick answer is a definite ‘no’.
What a 2 tier section does is provide extra stability by providing an exit route for wind in breezy conditions.
The immediate benefit is that it helps to prevent your canopy from lifting from the ground and takes the pressure off the supporting frame.
In hot conditions, it helps to aid air circulation and regulate temperature by providing an exit for hot stuffy air whilst preventing a smelly and stale odour inside (especially if drapes are closed).
Guy ropes & Metal Pegs
Quite often, it is these 2 items that are left inside the carrying bag and what most people don’t realise is that they are extremely important and should be used whatever the weather.
People will normally leave them in the bag until the weather takes a turn for the worse and by then the frame structure will be under pressure.
Although you may think they look a bit of an ‘eyesore’ or a potential trip hazard, it’s not until you have a broken part that you wishes you’d of used them from the start when you first assembled it.
When you attach the guy ropes from the canopy top to the ground, try to make they are at an angle of 45 degrees for the best support.
Unlike some canopies where you have to duck underneath the framework, this Costway shelter measures 187cm (1.87m) from the ground to the first section of the framework.
This means most people can comfortably walk into the canopy without having to duck under the sides.
That is the lowest setting, therefore, should you use the highest then there is a walk-in height of 207cm (2.07m) which ensures that virtually everybody can walk in without crouching.
The apex measures 277cm (2.77m) and this is the highest point once inside the canopy.
